Editorial Note

Thirty-five issues over seven months. The TechNet21 Digest has continued to survive and will hopefully thrive in the coming year.

For the last issue of 2009, we have Bob Davis sharing details about a project that seeks to monitor EPI data through mobiles, the GIN newsletter and an update on the INMIS 2010 to be held in Turkey. Additionally, we have picked the 'best' posts from May to December. They have pipped to the post either because of the number of reader responses generated or because of interesting content.

Finally, we wish our readers a Happy, Peaceful and Safe 2010.

The project related to SMS transmission of EPI data has thus far reached only 19 districts of Kenya, and we have only favorable user feedback by way of evaluation. Though it is (in its) early days, I think SMSing is probably on its way either to supplementing or (more likely) supplanting paper transmission of vaccine data from the periphery to the center.
