What is the TechNet21 forum?

The TechNet Forum began on 1 February 1998 as a communications initiative by the TechNet Secretariat, based in GPV at WHO, and BASICS. In 2001, the TechNet e-forum was brought online. It was hosted at the Centre de Cooperation Internationale en Santé et Développement (CCISD) in Québec, Canada for its mail, and at Université Laval for its Listserv operations, including archives and postings.

Today, The TechNet21 operations are managed by WHO Information Technology subcontractor. The forum and website is supported by a team comprising experts in health, logistics and information and technology.

Over the years, the forum has continuously striven to support TechNet21. It provides immunization personnel, a network to exchange ideas, news, concerns and experiences in various areas of immunization, including cold chain, service delivery, public health, and vaccine preventable diseases. The forum enables access to a network of experts to establish best practices and strive towards eliminating vaccine-preventable disease mortality and morbidity.

Participation in the forum is initiated through a free subscription. Registration allows members to both make contributions and receive postings. These postings encourage discussion and enable finding solutions to various problems in the field. The TechNet e-forum also strives to improve the content and keep pace with subscriber needs through its surveys.
