Launched in 2009 the Virtual Immunization Communication Network (VICNetwork) is a partnership between the National Public Health Information Coalition (NPHIC) — the professional network of public health communicators in the United States and U.S. territories, and the California Immunization Coalition (CIC) — a statewide partnership of immunization coalitions and private and public health organizations.

The VICNetwork strives to educate local and national health organizations, coalitions, and public health departments about effective immunization communication strategies, the importance of utilizing new media technologies to convey consistent immunization messages and current immunization issues. 		212

Founded in 1904, The Journal of Infectious Diseases is the premier publication in the Western Hemisphere for original research on the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases; on the microbes that cause them; and on disorders of host immune mechanisms.

Articles in JID include research results from microbiology, immunology, epidemiology, and related disciplines. 		71

The IVI is an international center of research, training and technical assistance for vaccine development against diseases such as cholera, shigellosis, and typhoid fever. Its research provides policymakers the evidence to introduce new-generation vaccines into the public health programmes for the poor in developing countries. 		216
17   Link   Immunization Action Coalition
The Immunization Action Coalition (IAC) works to increase immunization rates and prevent disease by creating and distributing educational materials for health professionals and the public that enhance the delivery of safe and effective immunization services. The Coalition also facilitates communication about the safety, efficacy, and use of vaccines within the broad immunization community of patients, parents, health care organizations, and government health agencies. 		90
18   Link   Vaccine Education Center
The Vaccine Education Center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was launched in October 2000 to provide accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date information about vaccines and the diseases they prevent to parents and healthcare professionals.

The Center, through its Web sites, videos, informational tear sheets and speakers programs, seeks to dispel some of the common misconceptions and misinformation surrounding vaccines. The goal is to communicate the facts about each vaccine as well as how vaccines are made, how and why vaccines work, who recommends them, whether they are safe, whether they are still necessary, and when they should be given.

The Vaccine Education Center is funded by endowed chairs from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and foundation grants. The Center does not receive support from vaccine manufacturers. 		86
