Canadian International Immunization Initiative The Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) has been contracted by the Government of Canada to implement the technical assistance component of the Canadian International Immunization Initiative (CIII), which is now in its third phase. Through this Initiative, CPHA identifies and recruits Canadian technical consultants to assist the World Health Organization (WHO), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to establish and maintain successful national childhood immunization systems in developing countries . Through technical cooperation and skill and service training, CIII-3 aims to strengthen the integrated disease surveillance systems, routine immunization services and safe practices focusing on polio eradication, health information systems, communications and social mobilizations capacities; to increase competent health workforce and to build country capacity in micro-planning, financial management, and monitoring and evaluation.

Institute of Medicine (of the National Academies) The Institute of Medicine (IOM) is an independent, nonprofit organization that works outside of government to provide unbiased and authoritative advice to decision makers and the public.
Established in 1970, the IOM is the health arm of the National Academy of Sciences, which was chartered under President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. Nearly 150 years later, the National Academy of Sciences has expanded into what is collectively known as the National Academies, which comprises the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the National Research Council, and the IOM.
