Vaccine Store Volume Calculator (VSVC) Program files

The Vaccine Volume Calculator (VVC) calculator has been designed for the following tasks:
•To calculate annual vaccine need, both for ordering purposes and for storage capacity modelling.
•To estimate the storage capacity available in a vaccine store for vaccines and other immunization-related commodities.
•To model the effect on current and future storage requirements of adding or removing storage capacity.
•To model the flow of vaccines and commodities through the store. The tool highlights breaches of safety stock levels and stock-outs and shows whether the capacity of the store is sufficient to cope with stock peaks.
•To model the effect on storage capacity of alternative delivery and distribution strategies.
•To model the effect on storage capacity of future programme growth. •To model the introduction of new vaccines and the phase-out of superseded
vaccines.
•To estimate icepack/cool water pack requirements for a range of alternative distribution strategies.
The calculator may also be used to carry out a retrospective analysis of vaccine storage capacity; for example during the course of an effective vaccine store management (EVSM) assessment.

The spreadsheet is distributed in Microsoft Excel version 2003 format. It can be saved to Excel 97, but some functionality may be lost. The spreadsheet will not operate in Excel version 4 format or earlier as these versions do not support multiple worksheets.
